How It All Began

I wasn’t always a photographer. Before 2015, I barely gave photography much thought, aside from taking the occasional phone snapshot while traveling.

But the seed was planted much earlier.

When I was a child, my father loved photography. He traveled often and returned home with stories and boxes of 35 mm slides. We would sit together as the room darkened and the images clicked onto the wall, one frame at a time. Different countries. Different faces. Light frozen in moments I had never seen before.

I did not know it then, but those evenings stayed with me.

Years later, before a bucket list trip, my wife handed me a real camera and said:

“You can’t go to the Galápagos Islands with just an iPhone.”

That simple challenge changed everything.

The Galápagos was not just another destination. It was the spark. I returned home inspired and eager to learn. I watched tutorials, practiced constantly, and eventually attended photography workshops with Scott Kelby and other photographers I admired.

Slowly, I stopped simply seeing the world and began photographing it with greater intention, emotion, and curiosity.

A Lifetime of Travel

My perspective comes from far more than brief visits and photographs of famous landmarks.

I have lived in nine countries, worked in twenty-two, traveled to more than seventy-five, and speak five languages. I spent more than twenty-five years living across Europe and the Middle East, building businesses, teaching, writing, and working with people from many different cultures.

I also hold a PhD and a JD. Those experiences taught me how to research carefully, question easy assumptions, and look beyond the obvious.

When I create a travel photography guide, I do not simply tell you where to stand. I try to explain the character of a place, how to experience it, when the light is best, what deserves your time, and what I learned by actually being there.

From Norway’s icy fjords to the deserts of the Arabian Peninsula, my camera has become my constant companion.

I began with landscapes, architecture, and travel scenes, but over time I also developed a deep connection to wildlife photography.

My aim is to capture the world in a way that makes people want to experience it for themselves.

To me, photography is storytelling. It is about emotion, connection, and wonder. It allows people to experience places they have never visited and rediscover places they already love.

My goal is simple. I want to help you travel with more confidence, photograph with more intention, and experience the world with greater curiosity and respect.

Sharing the Journey

One of the most rewarding parts of my journey has been helping others become more confident photographers.

Through workshops, photo walks, presentations, and one-on-one sessions, I create hands-on learning experiences that are practical, inspiring, and fun.

I enjoy working with everyone from absolute beginners to experienced travelers who want to improve their photography. Watching someone move from uncertainty to confidence behind the camera is one of the most satisfying parts of what I do.
